Citizenship: Our American Dream

When refugees arrive in America, they dream of gaining citizenship, the ultimate symbol of a permanent home here. However, the path to being sworn in is long, winding, and often takes decades.

Since 2001, refugee families have come to Legacy for hope, education and assistance gaining citizenship as they learn to thrive in the United States. We walk with people for from their first day of English class to the day that they get their passport, helping make citizenship not just hypothetically possible but practically accessible to each and every individual who comes through our doors.

Thousands of refugees have become Americans through the work of the Village. This is possible because of the people like you who decide, year after year, that this work is worth sustaining.

Join us November 12 for an evening about how our programs help refugees become citizens, and how to keep the Village going.
